Big Presque Isle River water levels are running high and the river is looking amazing to run from Tracey Mills to Saint John River!
WARNING: Brunway Construction is building a twin bridge over the river for the new TCH, about 5Km downstream from the old train trestle. During construction of the bridge, the contractor has installed a temporary trestle crossing the river. This trestle will be in place until the end of May 2007. Todays Hydro-metric Data (04/20/07) indicates a primary water level of 1m elevation. I have just returned from the job site and measured the clearance under the trestle and it is a mere 42 inches. Even though this is still enough clearance for canoe/passenger passage, please be aware of the potential danger. A simple 200m portage around the trestle is possible on the North bank. Please watch for heavy equipment on Brunway job-site.
I will running this river either this Sunday or next (29th) and will post a trip report.
