From Half Moon,,,, where we saw evidence of very strong winds possibly a tornado which uprooted trees and sheered many off half way up the tree and tossed the tops some 20-30 feet from the stump and stripping some dead trees bare like you see on TV,,,,, ,,Water showing about 1.1 at Blackville,, makes for a challenging run in a few places ,,, especially with the wind blowing like it did ,,,no salmon showing,,,,,The camp site on the turn at Lake Brook Had a large tree top laying where I have put up my tent on several occasions,,,,,spent the first night at Mckeil pond camp site,, some call it " sandbar", below Otter brook,,,,and Hen and Chickens pool, which is around the next left hand turn ,,, I recognize it by the huge rock on the right with a vertical split in it,,,,,about 1/4-1/3 mile on river left below the "sandbar"(which is more or less a huge pile of sand on the left shore, not in the river, and it seems to be shrinking with each passing year) is the campsite in the trees,,,,,Second day,,, good run through the narrows and beyond,,dropping into Pauff pools is a bit rough at this level, much easier with a few more inches of water,,, below there it was good sailing, got several trout in one pool, sailed down past 3 mile Rapids and spent the second night,, began seeing salmon jumping in the large ponds below Rocky Brook,,A strong north west wind made for good sailing to Norrads Bridge and our ride home,,,
