Paddlers: Derek, Ryan, Aaron, Kyle, Hugh. Put in: Maxwell Crossing Take out: Prince William St (St Stephen) near old ax factory. This was the first time I've paddled this run in I think 3 years. I forgot just how amazing this stream is! The gauge was reading around 2.3m, and made for very little scraping. There are some real nice rapids on this run, but also some parts are nearly blocked with sweepers so a person has to be a bit careful. About .5 km from takeout is a drop that can be challenging, but very rewarding so long as you stay tight river left. I couldn't imagine paddling with a better bunch of guys... I'm not very good at making videos, and there was so much footage! I had a hard time editing this clip, so it's a bit long; I just couldn't turn away the carnage clips I also need to remember to have the camera on at the right time: I missed some great footage of Hugh styling it down a real nice set of rapids, and also missed out on Ryan's runs. vimeo.com/42100829

Yes looks like a blast! That's the kind of river I enjoy, just gotta steer. Kayaked the Pollet river in Elgin 3 Saturdays ago & I'd say the Dennis is even more challenging. Great job on the video, water is still cold eh

Thanks everyone! It is a lovely stream, just make sure it is 2.0 or higher. There is barbed-wire fencing just below the bridge on the 170 that could mess a person up at lower levels.

Nice work Derek! That's a mean hole in the middle of the rapid before the axe factory eh?! Looked like a great day!

I almost always have dead batteries in my Go pro whenever there is some good action.
Looks like a fun stream. I thought for sure that the last song was Hollywood undead. My bad:)

Tickles, the original might belong to Hollywood undead...not sure. I think this group is just starting out. David good to hear from you! Yes, I wouldn't want in that hole without a full face helmet, the rockpile on river right is jagged just like up on NW Dig.

It was a fun trip, I learned to take off my sunglasses before entering a long rapid. I also learned that 5 seconds underwater in a keeper hole feel like a lot longer. The thumb will hopefully be back to 100% in another week or two. I hope you will all check out the Dennis sometime, i urge you all to scout the 4 rapid/drops of significance before trying them.

Ryan we'll have to take a trip over there in low water and go for a swim; who knows maybe we can retrieve the glasses in the pool down below!

Hey, maybe you could find my sense of balance too? Nice video Derek! Ryan, the video of you swimming did turn out, it was part of the clip of Derek making it look easy. Just cleaned out the camera and found it. Anyways, I posted it as is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjt0ZnQKavw&feature=youtu.beNeed to wait a minute for Ryan to get there. Did a run down the Dee the following weekend and someone put a knife pretty much through her hand, ending that trip early. Have had several incident-free runs lately though so maybe the curse is broken. Hmmm..... these incidents seems to start with a bad hangover and a new river?

Great video mashup Aaron. I shall henceforce change my signature to "Where's my paddle?" I'm looking forward to warm paddles for a few months.

Got out for a paddle on the Dennis on Sunday Oct 21. Paddlers: Derek, Shawn, Peter, Helen Was a nice warm day and the stream was pumping at 2.5m! This trip reinforces my need to spend a lot of time at the pool this coming winter: after getting stuck in the hole at the tail end of the middle rapid I should have had no problem rolling! Hopefully this isn't my last trip on the water this fall, but we'll just have to wait and see what comes along for rain after deer season. Here is a clip of our paddle, which unfortunately has a lot of water spots on it ... can't imagine why www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5GZVZfTO1U&feature=g-upl
