Water Level at NORTH BRANCH OROMOCTO RIVER AT TRACY read just under 1.6.
Dawson and I set sail from the bridge on Highway 101 and paddled down to the Rusagonis Covered Bridge in under 90 minutes. Water level was perfect ... no rocks, fast, and a few fun rips. A leisure paddled after work on a Friday night. :-)
Two sweepers ... able to negotiate both by staying river left. Worst was around a blind left-hand turn in the big power line opening (3/4 of the way thru the journey).
"The Washboard" was run-able and a hoot. We cleaned the inside of the Oldtown Appalachian with a few gallons of cold stream water ... but we made it through with an upright boat.
Heads up: Under the bridge and around the ball field (on your right) ... there is a nasty dog-leg to the right. A big spruce strainer is stuck on the outside of the turn and could do a number on an unsuspecting canoe.
Ran this same section last night. Water level at NORTH BRANCH OROMOCTO RIVER AT TRACY read 1.2. What a great little river to run!! Full of surprises and thanks for your warning about the dog-leg to the right. That was tricky but we stayed in the canoe. One of the other sweepers you mention under the power line stretches completely across the river but we were able to get under it. The washboard was fun although a little bony. Although it needs ample amount of water because of the washboard, this is a very exciting river to run to be so close to town.
