Some pics from April 16, 2011:
We put in at the Haystack Rock Bridge. There is one sharp drop not too far below that we all managed to make, but I went for a dunk below eddying out to shore. My boat doesn't turn on a dime when it's empty and I'm sitting with my weight at one end (poor excuse, I know.) Yeah, the water was ice-cold.
Haynes rips were scarier than the last time I ran them, maybe the flood of last December rearranged the rocks. I ran them on the left side.
When you come to the big island, take the left channel because it's clear, the right is blocked at the sharp turn by two huge trees. I had to flail like crazy to get off the water in front of them.
We only had one major upset, but nothing was lost, no one was hurt.
The water level at Durham Bridge (Nashwaak) was 19.3. Lots of water.
