I realize this is an NB board, but I was out west this month and I saw some real gems. Now I want to get back out to Idaho and Wyoming, to run the Shoshone , the La Grande Ronde, the Clearwater Canyons and several other beautiful canyon streams we drove past on our trek.
All I gotta do is win the lottery. Anyone else got any dream streams out there in the world they long to paddle? Just for fun....

It's beautiful. I think the waters there are more clear than the Upsalquitch waters are. Amazing.

Ken that was how I found out about that river. Reading up on your friends web page. I can just imagine the work involved to make that trip happen.

Yeah, It took a lot of planning and phone calls to bring it all together. the outfitter is expensive, but the road in is long and rough. I've heard true tales of vandalized vehicles up there as well.

Somewhere that I can go and not be heard from for 4 to 6 weeks and a circular route!
How about: Up the Saint John, up the tobique, down the Nepisiguit, over to the Miramichi, up the Cains, into Grand Lake, then up the Portobello, the the Saint John back to Fredericton.

I don`t think this would qualify as a dream river, but it`s one I`ve been dreaming about. A couple of years ago I fished a section of the North Sevogle (Cruikshank) and thought the features looked awesome. I`d like to put in above Squirell Falls after ice-out and run the whole thing right down to the NW Miramichi, with a one night layover. By my calculations it`s 44km, and drops about 750`which would mean an average of 17`per km which would be nice and quick but definitely doable with ww kayaks Has anyone ever checked any parts of this river out?

dbradford: I fished the Narrows stretch on the North Sevogle last June. Not sure you could get through the narrows in a kayak - but I'm not a kayaker. You'd definitely want to scope out the Narrows before planning a trip throught there though.

Hey daggerfan; Not a bad name for a ww paddler though! Thanks for the heads up about the Narrows, this is the stretch right below the squirrel falls stretch right? The scouting is why we'll be needing two days to run the whole thing. I will definitely pull out above the narrows to have a look. Do you happen to have GPS coordinates for them? Derek

The Narrows are easy to find. On the Fraser-Burchill road - it's straight for about 13 km (guessing the length here) and then there is a big turn to the North. Look on Google Earth or GeoNB. Right on that turn there is a road heading to the river and the Crown Reserve camp is right there - I think you can see it from the main road. Follow the road past the camp to the river - you will want 4 wheel drive and some clearance is helpful too. At the river this is the site of an old bridge. Cross the river and you will see the trail downriver to the Narrows - 5 or 10 minute walk. More of a crawl actually - kind of a rough trail.

No I didn't Ken. So far it's still just a dream. When we had the time this spring the roads were not passable. Nice picture! Looks a bit more meaty on entrance than Cruikshank, but nice and straight.
