Just got back from a run on the Big Presque Ilse, the first time I'd been on this stream, and figured I'd share some intel for any who haven't run this one. We put in at Tracey Mills just below the old dam. There's a nice parking area on river left just above the bridge. The gauge was reading .58 and the water level was perfect for a nice leisurely paddle with a couple fun corners and runs near the bottom. It could probably be run a little lower than this but I wouldn't push your luck. The run took 3hrs to get to Simmonds where the stream meets the Saint John River, with only one quick stop along the way. At the take out there is a maintained parking area at river level on the south side of the bridge. The vehicle access is maybe 100 feet downstream and is directly across from a monument marking the spot. There's a well stocked convenience/ANBL agency store in Centreville if you forget any critical supplies. And Grandma's restaurant has possibly the best breakfast buffet around. That's it.. have fun!
