Hello all. I'm a new member. I own a wilderness skills/wilderness survival school and guide dog mushing tours. My partner Shannon, our 2 kids and I live on the south branch SWM and have a kennel of 20 Alaskan Huskies. We have been guiding in NB since moving here in 1999 with one winter 07/08 spent living in Yukon driving dog teams. We love driving dogs, fishing, hunting and growing our own food. We look forward to reading the posts and hope to meet some people on the water. JB

Welcome, JB. I'm looking forward to reading your posts, and maybe we'll see each other on the river.

Hey all, I am finally (2 years in the waiting) an owner of a kayak. I didnt have it for 24 hours and I was out on it twice (Hammond River and the Dam on the St. Croix in St. Stephan). I am glad I found this site because I live in Saint John but do not know much of the water system.
Look forward to learning from all of you

Hey everyone. Just found this message board. I'm sort of a newbie paddler by which I mean I've had no instruction nor any serious white water experience. Own an Old Town yak, 13'9. No vehicle yet, so I'm looking for anyone willing to travel a river bum like me. Lots of running Carleton County rivers in years past, currently based near Juniper. Run the Becaguimec many times, been on the Nashwaak and the Tobique, enjoyed the flat waters around Jemseg, the wetlands of the Nerepis and Oromocto, etc. I am more than enthusiastic about running any river or stream in the province... have been sitting with an atlas and topo map many hours latley, don't know where to begin. Particularly curious about the upper Tobique branches, the restigouche system.
The point is I'd be glad to hear from anyone who wants a tag-along on a trip this spring.
Cheers

I'm a very new paddler living in Fredericton. I have an Old Town Discovery and to date I've just put in at the mouth of the Nashwaak and paddled up river a bit doing some fishing. I'm looking for some easy access points further upstream where I can put in and come down the river to the mouth. I like being on the river but don't have much experience. Thanks for any advice.

Mike, welcome to the board. The only spot on the Nashwaak from Taymouth down where you might have to dodge a rock or two is at the old dam just above the Marysville bridge. It shouldn't be any trouble unless the water is very low or very high. You may encounter a headwind that will slow your progress.

Hello everybody I just moved back to NB from living in AB for the past six years. As soon as I arrived back, I quickly picked up my Kayak. I grew up kayaking, canoeing etc...but I haven't done anything too extreme. I just like being out on the water and in nature. I am in Fredericton and so excited to explore all the local water and traveling around the province.
