With the way the weather has been so lately, it looks like an early start to the paddling season. Most rivers haven't completely frozen over this winter so the ice should soon be moving. I would like to do an overnighter this easter weekend if anyone would like to join. It's too early yet to decide on a river but I will keep you posted as we near the weekend.

Everyone is welcome to join. Kyle is scouting the North Oromocto tomorrow. Plan is to put in at the lake on Friday and take out at the bridge in Fredericton Junction on Saturday. Water should be plenty high with all the rain forecasted and so far the weather looks great for the weekend.

As of Monday there is no access to Oromocto Lake where the outlet of the North Oromocto begins. Roads are not plowed on that side of the lake and the water is still frozen. We may be able to launch in Little lake which would shave off about 8 kms of the river.
Option 2 would be to run the Piskahegan instead. The road to both the put in and take out are clear. This is a nice 2 day trip with some deadwater and rapids throughout the stream.

Mmmmm... lots of deadwater on the Piskahegan, actually. It's a nice paddle if you don't mind deadwater. I remember the Mines Road was in bad shape two years ago.
