i had some friends who bought some at canadian tire. they look the same. i know another fellow who rivets a large soupcan lined with a styrofoam coolee to his gunnels. the first thing i usually do when i get a canoe is install some kind of holder. nothin worse than spillin your beer goin down the river, especially when your low.

In the past I have made "beverage" holders using tin cans and those metal picnic table clips that you can buy at Canadian Tire. I rivet the clips to the can which can then be clipped to the gunnels. Drilling holes in the clips is hard on drill bits though, as they are made of stainless steel. They make good bailers also. You can see one in use in this picture;

I still have the two you and Pat gave me Tom. For such a simple design they hold up pretty well.
As a bonus they also double as an ash tray....

Mine have held up pretty well also.
I've made one from a larger can to hold a 1L Nalgene bottle but it doesn't work as well. The full bottle of water is to heavy for the clip.
I've had to make a few replacements as a few have found their way to the bottom of the river.
