Hey, I've kayaked before this year, but 2009 was the year that I bought my first yak. Picked up an Old Town Dirigo 120 Angler Edition and have been lovin it ever since. Been out dozens of times this year even despite the rain. Unfortunatly since mother nature has been being quite the pregnant dog this summer I have yet to get out for an overnight trip like I planned to but i've managed to run various sections of the Nashwaak and St. John river here in Fredericton, the Bartholemu River in Blackville as well as a few paddles in the Mactaquac headpond.
I can't be happier with the boat I bought. It tracks well in lakes and wide rivers, it's highly stable (haven't tipped'er yet'), reasonably light and for a 12 foot boat it isn't all that bad to steer in narrow or shallow rivers. Lots of room for cargo and works great whether i'm on an all day paddle, fising, or laying back relaxing with a bunch of girls in bikins on tubes, hammering back beers in the sun.
Anyways, this seems like a pretty sweet site. I'm glad I found it.

dude how about those old town yaks eh? I've never tried mine in anything rougher than the Stanley Bridge, or Grand Lake during a freak thunderstorm. wondering how far I can go before I have to re-invest.
