June 13, three canoes left F'ton and headed for Stanley for a tripdown the Nashwaak to Taymouth. The previous day it would have rained at least an inch in the F'ton area, and the gauge at Durham Bridge had the levels at 18.9 at the start of Saturday.
There were no problems on the river as all the rapids were straight forward. We had 3 canoes and nine people in all. One ten month old and a 4 and 6 year old to share our experiences with.
We seen a couple goose and gooslings and a bald eagle.
We picked up an old burnt pole with a stop sign attached to it and a what looked like some circutry of a computer out of the river. We did leave a ride on lawn mower in the river as it was to hefty to pull out and float down the river.
The moose fly's were out in ridiculous proportions but they must have just woken up as they were not biting, they were just bugging. As a matter of fact, they only seemed to be attracted to the two of us in the group who had blue life jackets on. Anybody a moose fly expert out there?
Great day
Cheers

I was on the Main SW this past Saturday the 13th, we got swarmed by the moose flies too. They seemed to like my 9 year old son best, or maybe he was just the most agitated . I remember that lawn tractor from our run Saturday the 6th, if any body has a bigger boat and is interested in fishing the thing out and floating it down to a suitable take out, I'd be happy to help. I could bring my 1/2 ton to haul it, 2-3 of us could lift it I think. I'll post this in footprints too.
