Sorry I missed Derek for the Sunday run, had the lower Nashwaak planned with a buddy. I wonder if anybody wants to run the Nasis stream Wednesday or Thursday evening, or even has time for a quick run during the day on the weekend. The level was rising again even before this latest rain, so it should be fast moving. My usual paddling companions enjoy safer runs, and I don't fancy trying it alone. I have a 1/2 ton and will pick up boater and boat anywhere, I can finish work, be loaded and on my way as early as 530pm. Derek? Anybody else?

Ryan, you didn't miss me at all...turned out I was at one of my daughters' volleyball tournaments on Saturday, then at the medical clinic with my other daughter Sunday. Things are pretty busy this week and weekend, because my wife is acting in a play so I have the kids in the evenings. Going to run the class 3 section of the Digdeguash on Saturday, and upper Keswick on Sunday. Should have room for you on Sunday's Kesick run if you'd like to join? I would still love to run the Nasis, but just won't be free until Monday next week: any day or evening that week I am free.

I wouldn't mind a thursday evening run. I will let you know for sure. Are you planning on taking out at the 105 or stone bridge. The best rapids from esteys bridge down is before and under the stone bridge on sunset drive. It is only another 20 mins or less to get here. Of course these rapids are flooded out if the Saint John is too high.

Yes & yes. Derek I'd love to tag along Sunday, is it a long day to run the upper Keswick? I have obligations in the evening, but I can make arrangements if necessary.
Mitchell I'm good to go tomorrow night if you are, and i'd be willing to try the Sunset bridge rapids, i'm pretty sure they're going to be under the rising Saint John river, but we can just as easily take out at the old Nasis arena as the 105, whatever you feel like. I live in Nasis, get home around 5pm, cell's 476-2199 if you want to go, i'll check this board tonight and tomorrow as well.

Yep I'm good to go. Send me an email tomorrow at amosm@nbnet.nb.ca. I am off at 5:00 so I can meet you at the sunset bridge at 5:30. The rapids looked really good today under the Sunset bridge.
Hey Hillbilly are you ready to hit the water yet? This stream is in your neck of the woods. Let me know.

I went for a bike ride this evening, I can't ever remember seeing the Sunset bridge rapids look that fast, we might as well carry on down to there, with the speed of the stream it'll only take an extra 5 mins to cover the 2-3kms. By Sunset bridge do you mean the Royal Road pool parking lot? Or the daycare beside the stream? Or I was even thinking the old Nasis Arena lot off Johnson Ave., the water's right up to the edge of those ballfields as it is.

Ryan, I'm not sure how long that run will take; never done it before. It looks like about 20kms on the map. I'm thinking it will take about 45 minutes to drive up from the takeout where the covered bridge used to be to the put-in at Haystack Bridge. Send me an email at derek.bradford@xplornet.com and we can work out the details. Looks like a perfect day weatherwise! Mitchell, how long does that trip usually take you? Hey enjoy your Nasis run tonight

It's about a 4 to 5 hour run. It just depends on how often you stop but the water will be moving fast so you will easily average over 5kms/ hr moving speed. I think if you could do it in under 4 hours if you don't stop. Have a fun trip!

Thanks Mitchell, I was thinking 4-6 hours, but you never know for sure. I always like to stop and have a fire and shore-lunch too, so that adds an hour. Ryan if we get started early enough, there shouldn't be any trouble making it back for your commitments.
