Friday after work. Levels were at about 3 inches over the abutment on Estey's Bridge. Same strainer at the confluence and a new one on the Nasis stream about 100 feet down from the confluence.
I heard someone mention that something was strung across the river in an earlier thread. All that is is some Christmas lights of a homeowners obn the banks. Way up out of the way. If the water was that level I'd expect every available person would be employed sandbagging various dwellings in the valleys below.
cheers

Mitchell and I went last night, gauge reading close to 1.0, water so high we couldn't get to the bridge pier. 2-3ft standing waves everywhere the first 2kms. Wasn't a rock we couldn't roll over anywhere, but the fastest current went straight at a sweeper on almost every bend. I'd say 10-12 dangerous ones altogether. It's quite a chore to catch an eddy to rest, the fast current to dead water zone was maybe 3-4 feet wide. Mitchell expertly guided his 14ft canoe and didn't get a droplet in. I crashed dumbly through standing wave after standing wave in my 8ft whitewater, I actually submerged and inhaled water on two of the bigger ones. I didn't fall in the stream current, but did flip catching an eddy to rest. Mitchell seemed calm and relaxed at the end, I was dumbfounded and in partial shock I think. I found 10-15 new bruises on my legs and feet today. I think this stream is a great way to knock the rust off after a long winter, now if only I can convince the wife to be to come along next time...
