If you are going to give this a try I recommend a bow paddler go with you and if you do get caught by the tide hide in behind a rock and wait. You can always walk back with the canoe at low tide if you have to. Depending on your fitness you can only fight the tide for maybe an hour. Worst case scenario if the wind is pushing you out you have to keep ferrying in at an angle. That might keep you from getting sucked down to Digby N.S. In excellent conditions you should have no trouble at all.
