Just wondering if there are any in town? I watch the youtube stuff and still can not get it. Is a old town 14foot just not made to roll? From some of the videos I have been watching it almost looks like it is easier in moving water kind of like you have something to push against with your paddle. thanks Joel

UNB has a kayak club where you can learn to roll. I joined last winter and taught myself how to roll a canoe. No one there had tried it before....they are however very good at rolling kayaks. It only costs $10 a year and is one night a week at the LB gym. Just go to unb.ca and search for kayak club. They always welcome new people anytime of the winter. Good luck.

Give Tim Cox a call 454-0906 or
p332p@unb.ca
On another note. I've been thinking of trying to outfit an old whitewater playboat to a C1 boat. I tried last year in a friends boat at the eddy at the bottom of Amberjack on the West Penobscot. Rolled once out of 4 tries. Maybe Mitchell would be able to give me some tips?? That is if I ever get around to converting a boat.
Cheers

Sure. Just stop up at my place sometime in the summer. I could take some lessons from you on rolling a kayak.

I just watched into the tsangpo gorge and after watching what they paddled through, I feel alot better about trying the Nipisguit rapids. I have not been able to get ahold of someone at UNB yet but will try that new email and phone number if all falls.

Nepisiquit Rapids are indeed pretty big in the spring of the year. From Pabimeau Falls down to the old dam has some good rapids for kayaking but nothing even close to the Tsangpo.

So are they something you could run in a 14 foot if I take out all the junk, or is that like useing a screw driver for a hammer. Play boat or squrt only kind of stuff?

Yeah and don't bother trying that phone number anymore. It's probably disconnected or at the very least noboady will answer for a few more months. Try the email.

I'm down to the Lake George campground (Harvey) with the kids quite often, and usually take the yak along to keep my roll natural. I'm about as far from an expert as you could get, but if someone would like to come out I could show you how to do a sweep roll or c-to-c some evening.
