It seems almost all the trips I’ve taken on the Nashwaak have ended in carnage, chaos and cold. Yet it’s a monkey on my back, tormenting me to set out from the upper lake again every canoe season.
I can’t shake it off. Why is this?
Is there a river that owns you too like this?

ya the chi does that to me, no doubt as a result of the company I keep. Everyone claims the gear and planning get more refined every year but I still seem to find myself waking up in a cedar swamp with water up to my upstream eyeball a 1/4 mile away from my tent at some point.
It's the grand daddy of all trips for us.

I can't say I have a favorite because I've had so many great trips down completely different rivers. I am definately anxious to tackle the nashwaak again this spring though. I would like to see the rips from above the water this time. I wouldn't even mind trying it from the lake either. Maybe we'll hook up for the run.
