Date: May 19, 2007 Water Level: 1.08 North Oromocto @ Tracy Crew: 2 Boats, 2 People Length: 9 hours, 24 Miles Elevation Drop: 287 Feet Despite the crumby weather, Shawn Durette and I, Rudi Fowler, had my little brother Josh drop us off at Oromocto Lake at 12:30pm. There was plenty of water at this level. We took our time, all the way to the Falls. We got the occasional shower along the way, but that didn't matter after going for a swim in the falls. We both successfully ran the falls, but that wasn't enough. I decided to try to climb back in the huge eddy coming off them and missed it, ended up sideways, then overturned. Its a long ride till you can stand up again. The boat was coming behind me, made me nervous. Managed to dump her out and use a stick to make back to the portage trail again since my paddle decided to go without us. We picked it up about 1/2 mile downstream. After putting on some dry clothes we headed down stream for hot chocolate and lunch at the mouth of Otter Brook. Nice spot. There is an old Indian Totem pole at this small campsite, kind of interesting. After lunch we realized it was 6:30pm and that lunch was actually supper, so we scurried downstream and made it past the Tracy bridge and to a trail to my house by 9:30pm. We walked up and drove the truck down the trail to pick up the boats. It was a long day, but we were never rushed. Check out some pics! picasaweb.google.com/fowlerrudi/NorthOromoctoMay19th
