Aaron, Hugh and I paddled the headwaters of the Miramichi last weekend. We entered through the Acadian Timber gates in plaster rock Frdiay night. We were able to get within 400m of the small stream. We portaged our gear and camped in an open area near the river. The next morning we had to drag and push our loaded canoes a couple kms to the where the deadwater begins. We were able to hop into the canoes and paddle from here, although there were quite a few more low spots requiring a drag. There were a few ledges and drops on the second day as well but no major rapids to deal with. I would like to do it again sometime with higher water, maybe around 2.4m on the blackville gauge versus the 1.8 level we had. It would also be nice to just start at the deadwater but Irving has all the roads gated. We took out Sunday in Juniper just before the railroad bridge.

I saw your photos of the moose in the deadwater, it was really easy on the eyes. I think Aaron took it, actually. Anyway, I stole it for my website page.

Yep, that WAS mine. Anything put on FB is no longer your property, it becomes theirs anyway. No worries Ken.
