Anyone paddled the Taxis? I know there's a gate through Maple Grove that will get you higher up. I believe the river is smaller and faster there.

I've done the lower end of the Taxis once in a kayak (about 5 years ago now), it was mid summer and the water was unbelievably low. We had to ditch the kayaks and walk with them for long stretches at a time. Your thinking about putting in up as far as possible to try and find more water is a smart idea.
The positive about the trip was seeing a cougar (but there aren't any cougars in NB!) slinking along the rivers edge somewhere near our put in. Had no camera, but the 3 other fellas with me can all attest to it.

Scouted The Taxis River June 1, 2018 via Stanley to 625...water gauge at Blackville 1.20 and Durham Bridge 18.03 for references and WAY too low. Beautiful river, checked 4 spots. Entry at Bridge 15 km past Stanley is easy put in. Small camp and put a little last it. The brook will be a locator. I'd say you need another foot of water. Did SWM from above Hayesville to Boiestown. Guage a hair under 1.20 Blacklville as above. Enough water. Some good rips (class 1). Easy run.
