Pending a epic collapse of events I am hoping to run this river starting August 11th. I have a new Satellite messenger Delorme Inreach You are able to send me messages and also Ping my current and actual Location. Possibly during the mid to end of the trip I may be running dark to conserve batteries. But will try to checking a few times a day. Link to Mapshare page share.delorme.com/ChurchillLabrador2016Page will be up and running closer to departure date. Enjoy

Awesome Tickles! How did you like the Delorme? Battery life was OK? Did you text or receive any texts with it? Love to see a trip report and a review of that communicator...

Still tired from driving 3800kms round trip. I'll try and get a write up soon.
I was using the Delorme PN60 GPS with the spot communicator. And recently upgraded to the Inreach. Seems easy to navigate the menus on it. Battery life was amazing. I may have charged it 50 percent worth on my solar panel slash battery bank set up over the 10 or so days I was gone. Seems useless for navigation unless you pair it with your phone, Then you get nice good detail maps and easier message composition. Sent and received a ton of messages obviously a little lonely out there myself. You can send messages to either a email address or phone number. Having access to a weather report was kind of awesome. Allowed you to paddle big days when the weather is good, if you know bad weather is coming.

On the map you can click the bigger dots and it says my speed. One of them was 17kms a hour at the Manipi rapids. That day I did 42miles in The quick water section. New Record for me for sure.
