Date: April 28 - 29, 2007 Water Level: .95 North Oromocto @ Tracy Crew: 2 Boats, 2 People Length: 7 - 9 hours over 2 days, 18-19 Miles Elevation Drop: 248 Feet So after a day on Lyons Stream, Shawn and I decided to put drop into Little Lake at 8:30pm and try to make it to Gasperaux Falls before night it. Well, we made it to the other side of the lake, then had to whip out the flashlights. If a river isn't exciting in the day time, try it at night. What a great night to be in the boat. The first part of the Oromocto is slow and beautiful, then it slowly picks up speed the closer you get to the falls. The quiet night was brought to life by giggles and laughter as we narrowly missed rocks and tried to predict where the falls were. Shawn tried to go down the falls backwards without a paddle, but I saved him when he grabbed my paddle. We decided to wait till daylight before considering running them. Long story short, we made it to our destination at about 10pm, set up camp, cooked some supper and hit the sack, the whole while giggling about the dark adventure. The next day was great, no rain, perfect water level, and all day to get down the rest of the river. We left the falls at 10:30am and arrived home in Tracy at 2:30pm. And we fooled around the whole time, checking out tree stands, good campsites, talking with a few fishermen friends, etc. Check out the pics: picasaweb.google.com/fowlerrudi/NorthOromoctoApril29th
