- What would be your ideal put-in and take out spots for a 2-4 night trip in the Chip Lakes for two? One of us is an experienced NB canoeist showing an Ontarian canoeist around the joint.
- Is there anyone who might offer a pick up service at the end to return us to our car? Or drive us from our car to the put-in so we can canoe back to our vehicle? - Many years have gone by since we laid eyes on our maps of the Chip lakes... where can we get maps these days? - Is there anyone nearby who rents canoes?
Many thanks, all, and glad to be registered to this site.

Maps can be purchased at service New Brunswick down town Fredericton. Put in at North lake, Camp one night in the upper lakes or two if you feel like taking it easy. Portage at forest city and camp either one night in the lower lakes or two.
We usually do it in 3 nights.
Nice campsite are Hayes point in the upper lakes. Lower lakes Birch island is nice(American but we have never had a problem staying there) The ledges, Todds island, and palfrey neck.
I may be available for shuttling depending on dates and timing. meet at Vanceboro leave your vehicle then drive you to the put in.

I have used Tammy Smearer at Canoose Outpost many times for shuttling on the river, not sure if she does the Chip Lakes or not? Great service. She also rents canoes. canooseoutpost.ca/Another 2-3 day trip is down from Modsley Lake, Tammy would shuttle this I would think- Just drive up the old train tracks to the lake, then canoe down to Spednic Lake. Can do it all in one day though... but you can stay on MacAdam (Wauklahegan) Lake, Diggity Stream and/or Spednic Lake to stretch it out. The map from SNB is your best guide. This is an easy route with very short portages.

Many thanks, for both replies.
We will check out the maps at Service NB in Fredericton for sure and Canoose Outpost's services.
Tickles, your offer is very generous of maybe shuttling us from Vanceboro. We anticipate being there on August 8th, after dropping family at the Fred airport, as long as we can find a canoe on the way.
More research to come... just back today from canoe country in Norther Ontario. Canoes everywhere on the roads around Temagami. Season has begun!
best wishes and will return .....
