Was wondering if anyone can help me out. I've never done the Magaguadavic and was wondering: what are some good put in and take outs? Recommendations for an over nighter and also a day trip? I'd like to have some challenging water thanks

There is a lot of meandering deadwater on the Mag. Beware of the Brockway meadows, for instance. There are "falls" in the last third of the Mag, you might make it through with a good scout. Search this site for video of McDougall falls, some guys made it through, others got banged up a bit.....

We like to put in at Pomeroy. Sometimes we take out at Milligan Brook, which gives you a nice surfing wave within the first km, a few nice class 2 rips, then Little falls: I think it's about 3 hours, stopping and playing. Sometimes we take out below Turnover rapids, right where the road (770) comes close to the river. It adds an extra hour or two, but gets you Billy Smith rips and Long rips, which might be class 3? Below this there are some falls, like Ken said, but so much flat water in between.

Dbradford, is that just a day trip or an over nighter?

Disco169, What Dbradford was saying is only a day trip. It was my first river run this past fall. If you're looking for a group to tag along I'm sure we'll be hitting it up as soon as this darn ice and cold weather goes away. This is Dbradford's video he made from our day trip in Sept. We put in at Pomeroy and took out at Milligan creek. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lkfGKKcakA&feature=c4-overview&list=UUCPHR3lYoeesQyzOS93tluw Hope to see you on the river

Yes, just a day trip. If you search back through all the postings, there are some descriptions of overnighters. Oof, on Grand Cayman right now trying to find a kayak suitable for the surf. It's so hard to find a decent boat!

hey Derek, if you can't find a boat, you can always try a surfboard ... or do what I like, body surfing.
