Put in late Sunday around 3PM at the boarder crossing where north lake and grand lake meet. Paddled to Hayes Point setting up camp around 7:30ish About 11KM that day. Day 2 Murder Paddle day On the water around 10Ish Paddled to Birch Island got there around 8PM About 25KM with the portage at Mud falls Portaged the first two main drops and rand the rest. Day 3 Birch Island to Upper Todd's Island. Maybe 10KM Started this day around 2PM and paddled till 7PM Up till this point the wind was against us the whole trip. Day 4 Another easy paddle out maybe 7-8KM to my truck. Nobody else was out on the water with us. I st oped and talked to a US boarder officer who was parked at the first dam in forest city. He was supper nice and easy going. I informed him we were planing on staying on birch island and he did not say yes or know but that it just depended who you asked. s995.photobucket.com/user/ticklespickles/slideshow/Chiputncticook%20Lakes%20June%2030-July%203rd%202013Click for photos

I love that trip. A buddy and I did it back in 2010. We had the wind at our back and kayak sails for the whole trip though. Nice to know that it's still doable even if the winds aren't favourable. Mud Lake really is a grind on Day 2, it's very dead, and seems much farther than the distance indicated on the map. The portage around the falls isn't all that easy, and you're still loaded heavy with provisions. There is a 500-600M portage you can do over the american peninsula at the southern point of mud lake to eliminate 7km of paddling and mud lake falls.

Great pics! Have only been from the campground to Todd's. Where abouts is that tarzan rope, Grand Lake somewhere?
