Picked up this Cedarwood Prospector (quite possible a Pal but i don't think so...) late last year. IMG_0697 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Tried my best to talk myself out of buying it but canvas canoes are addictive. Overall in ok shape, both ends have the standard rot and there are 4 ribs that need to be replaced Into the crowded garage it went to add to the list of projects i have on the go. IMG_0909 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Didn't really have the time or space for this project with the form behind almost complete and a minor renovation in the house that has taken all winter. Both ends needed to be completely rebuilt. IMG_0915 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr For scarfing joints i picked up a Japanese pull saw. Easily the best $30 i've ever spent. IMG_0917 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr IMG_0918 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Test fitting the deck with the repaired inwales. IMG_0920 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr The stems need repair as well. IMG_0921 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Everything all put back together... good as new... well almost. IMG_0924 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr The other end got the exact same treatment. IMG_0925 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr IMG_0931 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Ribs are coming out next hopefully be making steam in a week or 2.

It's odd, with all the years i've been buying, flipping or destroying canoes, i've never actually seen a Cruiser. There was a project canoe available up north a few years ago but other than that they appear no-existant in NB. If there is one available i'll find it though

Back to work on my Cedarwood. Milled up about 10 ribs (more than i need to allow for any that may break while they are bent into shape) Dug out my trusty steam box. IMG_0950 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr Soaked the ribs overnight and steamed for about 30 min. The four ribs I had to replace all went on in about 7-10 minutes. Not much work and they all bent easily. IMG_0951 by canoeandpaddle, on Flickr The ribs will likely stay like this for the week untill i have a chance to install them.
