Paddlers: Derek, Peter, Jonathan Put in: bridge on old 780 Take out: New River Beach This was my first time on this river. The levels were quite low from what the others told me. The Leprau was reading 0.75. Had a swim right off the bat at the first drop; lost grip of my paddle and couldn't get the roll. This run features many small drops and a slide or two as well. Part way down there is a significant set of falls. You'll know you're there when you can see the river part, but with most of the water going to the left. It isn't canoable, nor is it doable for me at my basic skill level in the kayak. From the stone bridge on Route 1 down to the salt water is just pure fun, but we got there near high tide; I'm told one of the more 'interesting' rapids was hidden from us due to the high waters. The surf was a fantastic way to end the trip!!! My creeker didn't seem to like forward surfing , but it worked out ok on a side-surf with brace. Attached is a clip of our day, I don't recommend this run to an open boater unless you have floatation. Definitely want to do this river again! vimeo.com/42526784
