Hey paddlers! On Dec 11th, myself and two good kayaking buddies paddled the Cedar Camp Brook just below Poley Mountain ski hill. The water in this area is crystal clear, and the geology consists of mainly sandstone... so it's easy on the boat! I know we're a bunch of 'yakers, but I know all you canoeists out there will enjoy the site of this stream... and I imagine a few would even love to tackle this stream. It's also an amazing trout fishing brook with nice deep pools... good for swimming too. The Waterford/Sussex area has such beautiful countryside, I'm about ready to move to the area with all the amazing streams and sites available. Rather than getting into the details of this run, have a look at the film I recorded on my new GoPro2 headcam (my 3rd one, hopefully this one doesn't go to the bottom of a river) Enjoy and happy paddling! vimeo.com/33702165

Looks like fun! Thanks for sharing. Everything looks runnable for my 12ft river kayak, or a 14ft canoe. Kennebacasis at Apohaqui gauge was reading 9.2 and falling on Dec.11, 2011. How long of a run was it, and do you think you could make that run with any less water?

Thanks guys! It sure was a great day! By tracking the route on my map it shows about 3.5kms from the put in at N45 41.491 W65 20.259 to the take out where it meets Trout Creek (a similar, and more challenging creek). I wouldn't bother paddling this any lower than what you saw on this vid. On the flat sections we were getting hung up a bit... any bigger/heavier of a boat setup would leave you hung up solid. This water level was about 4-5 days after big 50+mm rains. I don't think any other streams would have been runnable, but with this creeks source being up in the mountains I'm guessing it would experience a longer run off... helping it keep a decent level for a longer period? SO having rambled that, I would prefer this with a bit more water. I wish I still had my Discovery 169, because I would bomb this creek in a second with it... really test out it's durability. I think putting in where we took out is a popular spot for the locals canoe run. It flows quite a ways through farmland and hillsides before it flows straight through the town of Sussex. It's quite an area. I highly recommend taking a full day to explore that area.

Nice Vid I would love to bomb that in my little 11foot canoe. I love the para cord tied to Buddy's go pro on his helmet. I guess when it gets cold the 3M just don't stick. Good cam quality is that the Hd model?
Nice wet Exit to:)

Yep, it's actually the newest HD... GoPro2. Supposedly it's 2x better than the regular HD... I personally don't notice a difference, but I'm sure having a better computer and editing program would help show what it's capable of.
That was the first swim I've ever enjoyed... got to test out my new drysuit on that one lol, worked perfect.
