 Sails for Canoes & Kayaks
« Thread Started on Aug 17, 2009, 9:54am »

For any of you looking for a way to get out and enjoy paddling during these hot days with low river levels, try rigging up sails for your canoe and/or kayak. I've got one of the 42" round WindPaddle sails from Amos Outfitters, it just snaps on and when you've got wind up it pops and it's like having current to move you along. Great for lakes. I also hand built another triangular sail for my kayak out of electrical conduit PVC and a dollar store tarp that enables me to go cross wind. Sorry no photos today, but I'll see if I can find some. I just think it adds a fun dimension for those of us who love the water, but don't necessarily love a long hard paddle. I'd love to help anybody who would like to try building their own on a budget, my homemade triangular sail was $25 worth of materials.
